【Vocal member recruitment audition】
We will hold an audition for vocal members for All Bach Cantatas. Please see the application guidelines for details. We look forward to your applications. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the office.
Eligibility
・Qualifications: Graduate of a music university vocal major or equivalent musical education.
・Age: approximately up to about 40
・Those who will actively participate in Promusica Baroque Academy’s All Bach Cantatas project and related activities
Selection method
First round: Video screening
J.S. Bach: one aria of your choice from a cantata
※ Performance pitch is left to the applicant (does not affect pass/fail).
Record with piano, organ, or harpsichord accompaniment (electronic instruments permitted).
Film from an angle showing the upper body. Smartphone filming recommended. Only unedited videos will be considered.
Application deadline: Fri., February 28, 2025, 23:59
※ Please paste the link in the “Video URL” field of the application form.
First-round results will be emailed by Thu., March 6.
Those advancing to the second round will be consulted about scores for the accompanist.
Second round: Live audition at the venue
Date & time: Fri., March 28, 2025, 11:00–16:30
Venue: Imaikan Kyoyukai Auditorium
※ Results will be announced by mid-April by email or in writing.
Required repertoire
Accompaniment instrument (harpsichord or organ) pitch A=415Hz, 1/6 Vallotti
・J.S. Bach cantata works: one recitative and one aria of your choice. A paired set is also acceptable
→ The aria may be the same as the one submitted for the first round.
・Ensemble rehearsal audition
→ from J.S. Bach: Motet Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden
mm. 1–23 (refer to the Neue Bach-Ausgabe)
Free choice
Any Baroque (17th–early 18th century) opera aria or song
※ Accompaniment on the day will be provided by an accompanist arranged by the ensemble.
※ For the ensemble audition, please prepare your own part. The audition method will be explained at the venue on the day.
