[Koriyama] Promusica Baroque Academy Chorus
We are seeking new chorus members in Koriyama, Fukushima. Our main repertoire centers on Bach cantatas, along with vocal ensemble works from the Renaissance through the Baroque. Performing with an orchestra of period instruments (A=415Hz, 440Hz, 465Hz, and more) is one of our distinctive attractions. Why not experience our approach to music-making?
About This Chorus
The Promusica Baroque Academy Chorus (PBA CHOR) performs J.S. Bach cantatas in German with an orchestra of period instruments and presents concerts. We place special emphasis on learning and performing with attention to style.

- Accompanying instrument: Harmony Director (A=415Hz).
- Overview: Beginners are warmly welcome. We will do our utmost so that members find the activity fulfilling and rewarding.
Recruitment Overview
- Overview: Anyone interested in Bach’s vocal works, early music, and its singing techniques. Amateurs as well as music-college graduates and university students are welcome—please come observe a rehearsal.
- Capacity: Soprano 20, Alto 20, Tenor 10, Bass 10
- Parts currently open: Soprano 12, Alto 15, Tenor 8, Bass 7
- Audition: None. Anyone may join.
- Performance: Sunday, January 31, 2027 — Koriyama Public Hall (matinee)

Fees
- Rehearsal fee: Lump-sum ¥33,000 / Half-year ¥16,500 × 2 (January and August) ※ calculated at ¥1,500 per session
- Membership fee: ¥4,000
- Concert participation fee (orchestra rehearsals + performance): ¥13,000
- Mid-term joining: Possible through August 2026 (rehearsal fee discount depending on start date; details provided separately)

All scores used are prepared by the office and provided to members.
FAQ
Q. I cannot attend many rehearsals. Can I still perform?
A. Yes — there is no attendance requirement for performing on stage.
However, the conductor may make a final decision on participation based on the overall readiness of the ensemble.
Q. Is there follow-up for missed rehearsals?
A. If you must miss a rehearsal, please notify the office in advance (not obligatory).
All rehearsals are recorded and shared via YouTube (unlisted).
Watching the recordings later lets you check progress and the musical direction.
Q. Can I attend only the sessions I can make?
A. Yes, that is fine.
However, there is no discount or refund for missed sessions.
Q. Is there an audition?
A. There is no audition.
We welcome anyone who loves choral singing and wants to learn Baroque music with us.
Q. Can I join mid-season?
A. Yes, mid-term joining is possible through August 2026.
Details will be provided according to when you start.
Q. Do I need to prepare my own scores?
A. All scores used are prepared by the office and provided to members.
Q. Is publicity help (e.g. flyer inserts) required?
A. We may ask for cooperation with publicity such as inserting concert flyers.
Any related travel expenses are covered by the office.
Q. Can I observe a rehearsal?
A. Yes, rehearsal observation (trial membership) is available anytime.
If you decide not to join after observing, we handle any related costs flexibly.
